Gotta Dance Studio Update – May 1, 2020
Please read our entire update - WE HAVE NEW YEAR-END PERFORMANCE INFORMATION ENCLOSED
UPDATED CLOSURE DATE: GOTTA DANCE'S PHYSICAL STUDIO WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY, MAY 18TH.
MAY CLASSES: We have received wonderful feedback from our dance families about the positive impact of our online video classes on our private/unlisted YouTube channel. We have been working hard to continue to provide dancers with what they will need to rehearse their recital dances and there will be more choreography for those classes who haven't finished their dances coming soon. While we know many other studios have moved to a live class format, we have decided the best course of action for our studio will be to continue to provide as many videos, games, stories, challenges, and choreography as we can during this time through email and on our private YouTube channel as we would like to continue to finish our recital routines and be ready for an the end of the season showcase. We plan to provide new classes each week through the end of May.
TUITION PLAN: Since our dancers are not able to be physically in the studio and have full classes, our plan is to charge 50% tuition for the month of May for those who still want to receive the links to the online classes. Those who have paid in full for the year will continue to get links to the videos and those with automatic credit card payments should contact us to confirm it is OK to charge your card for the month of May. We also understand that many of you may be out of work and if you have a financial concern, but still want to receive video class links, please contact Karrie at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss payment options. May tuition payments or donations to help support Gotta Dance can be mailed directly to the studio at Gotta Dance, 101 Brick Kiln Road #4, Chelmsford, MA 01824 or online payments will be accepted during this time through VENMO (@Karrie-Mason-3) or PAYPAL (email@example.com).
PICKING UP COSTUMES: In late May, early June, for students who don't have their recital costumes yet, we will arrange for each student to come to the studio to pick up their costume(s). We will have a drive-thru set up where families can drive up to the door and we will bring the costumes out to your car. A date with the pick-up schedule will be distributed once we have all the costumes organized. All costume balances should now be paid in full and you will be contacted if there is an outstanding balance before being able to pick up your dancer's costume(s). Unfortunately, we will not be having our regularly scheduled Picture Day this season.
RECITAL T-SHIRTS, PROGRAM & AWARDS: We are still planning to take orders for recital t-shirts, putting together a program and offering our annual perfect attendance and milestone awards for dancers as well as honoring our Class of 2020 dancers. Once finalized, we will be sending out a recital t-shirt design and order form. We are planning to have a special virtual Zoom ceremony for awards that we usually present during our recital dress rehearsal (date TBA). Another date will be scheduled for dancers to come by the studio to be given their t-shirts, a program and award(s).
RECITAL OPTIONS: Gotta Dance is planning the options outlined below for a year-end performance showcase for our existing students if we are unable to have our recital on June 20th as currently scheduled. We are committed to providing an opportunity for our students to showcase their love of dance and their progress during this season while balancing our commitment to the health and safety of our dance community and the community at large. We wanted to get these dates out to families so you would know what we are planning to help bring closure to this dance season. We realize all these plans would take place according to the CDC rules/guidelines and MA state guidelines and additional options may be developed based on new guidelines that are issued.
OPTION 1 – JUNE 15th - JUNE 20th - IN-HOUSE PHYSICAL END OF SEASON PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE: (optional dates if social distancing time is increased – JULY 13th - JULY 18th)
We have been reviewing all recital classes and developing a plan that will allow our students to perform their recital pieces with a small audience of 2 family members only per dancer. We would invite each class to come in costume during a specific time slot on their regular class day (with ample time in between each class to sanitize the studio before the next class arrived). We would videotape each class and stream them together into a virtual recital video for a small fee for each family in lieu of selling tickets. We would hope to have a few weeks before this date to get each class into the studio in smaller groups to review their recital dances prior to the performance week. We will mark the dance floors and will arrange seating to maintain the 6 foot social distancing requirements. We will also recommend that all audience members wear a mask and dancers are welcome to wear a mask while performing. All Gotta Dance staff will be wearing masks as well. We will be asking for limited contact with our staff for the protection of our entire community. A schedule for the time and date of your dancer's physical performance will be sent out when we have a clearer timeline of when we could be back in the studio.
OPTION 2 - OUTDOOR RECITAL AUGUST 6TH AT SAMPAS PAVILION IN LOWELL, MA: This is the regularly scheduled date of our summer dance team performance and if the organizer can secure a permit for performances, we would perform our recital in full on this night outdoors. We will have plans in place for executing this and will release them closer to the date if this plan comes to be.
OPTION 3 - SEPTEMBER 26TH AND 27TH (Dress Rehearsal and Performance) - TENTATIVE LIVE RECITAL (IF VENUE CAN BE SECURED) We would resume this season's dance classes on August 29th for one month to review recital dances and prepare for the recital. Our 2020/2021 class schedule would begin October 3rd.
*We plan to give at least one month notice to families as to which option we will be going with for our recital performance.
SUMMER AND FALL CLASSES/REGISTRATIONS: If we are given a timeline for safely opening for classes this summer, we will be offering small classes, camps, private lessons and competition classes. We may offer a few camps virtually if we are able and will send out an email in late June/early July with our summer offerings. Current families will have a private registration opportunity before we open registrations up to the general public. Our 2020/2021 class schedule is being worked on now but will most likely remain very similar to this year's schedule with minor changes and when we release the schedule, current families will have a window to register before we open registrations to the general public.
We know this is a lot of information to digest and we are really working hard to give our dancers and families a close to this dance season as best we are able. We can't thank you enough for your continued support during this time and please know that we love and appreciate each of our dancers and their families and CANNOT WAIT to get back into the studio and dance together again! Please don’t hesitate to contact Karrie at firstname.lastname@example.org or Heather at email@example.com with any questions, comments or concerns during this time. We are here for you!
