Gotta Dance Studio Update – June 1, 2020

Updated closure date:  Our studio will remain closed through June 30th with an anticipated opening date in July with Phase 3 of the State of Massachusetts re-opening plan.

JUNE CLASSES – New weekly online classes will end May 31st, but you will continue to have access to previously uploaded online classes and recital choreography on the Gotta Dance YouTube channel.  We will still offer recital dance videos for review and some new choreography from instructors for classes who still need to finalize their dances. We would like for you to take this time to focus on cleaning up your recital routines. Tuition for the month of June will NOT be collected.

RECITAL 2020 T-SHIRT ORDERS – we are pleased to announce that we are offering "2020 Elements" recital t-shirts!  If you would like to place an order for a shirt, the order form is attached.  *Order forms with payment will need to be dropped off or mailed to the studio no later than Wednesday, June 3rd.  **One form needs to be filled out for each dancer and/or parent who would like a t-shirt.  Shirts are $18 for basic fit and $20 for comfy fit and youth and adult sizes are available.  Payment accepted will be cash or check payable to “Karrie Mason” – sorry, no credit cards for payment. COSTUME PICK-UP - Costume pick up will take place June 5th, 6th, and 7th and will be scheduled for dancers in alphabetical order (see schedule listed below).  *Please take a picture of your dancer in their costumes and send it to us so we can still have a memory for this year and to add to our 2020 picture collage! Due to the Covid 19 interruption to many businesses, we are waiting to hear from one company as to whether or not it is likely that those costumes will arrive in the near future and if not we are working on an alternative/replacement costumes.  This has only affected a few classes. We will notify you before Thursday if you do not need to come to the costume pick-up day or if we will be delivering your costumes to you when they do arrive.

Pick - up Procedure:  Please park in a parking spot and our staff will assist you. PLEASE DON’T PARK IN THE HANDICAP SPACE OR DESIGNATED BUSINESS SPACES OR GET OUT OF YOUR CAR. Please wear a mask or bandanna for your safety and the safety of our staff. If your account has a balance, you will not be able to take your costumes home unless you bring payment with you. If you are picking up a costume for another student/family, you will need to have an email or text authorization available to show the staff so that we make sure the costumes get to the right places. You will also be asked to follow the same process as if it was your own child. You will need to fill out the "Costume Pick-Up Form" ahead of time and will need to have with you that day and give to the GD staff member when you arrive in order for us to get your costumes. (The form is attached to this email.)

Friday, June 5th: 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm (Last names: Abraham – Fields)
Saturday, June 6th: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm (Last names: Finney – O’Hare)
Sunday, June 7th: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm (Last names: Ostund – Zanelli)

1. Park in a spot
2. GD staff will take the form you filled out ahead of time with your dancer’s name and classes and bring you your costumes
3. GD staff will ask you to pop your trunk or roll down a back seat window and place your costumes in your car
4. GD staff will hand you back the form and you will sign off that the costumes were received (you may want to have your own writing utensil, but we will have sanitized pens if needed)
5. Give form back to the GD staff member and please be careful leaving the parking lot.

*Contact us via email if you have an issue with your costume once you get it home and try it on.  Unless there is a major size issue, please do your best to make your own adjustments if needed.  Crossing our fingers that costumes are fitting properly as many companies are not operating at full capacity and we may not be able to exchange them at this time.

STUDIO PARADE - SUNDAY, JUNE 14TH! – Decorate your cars and drive around the studio, say hi to your teachers for a parade commemorating the end of our 2019/2020 dance season!  Parade time and route will be sent out in a separate email. We hope all of you can participate in this celebration!

YEAR END AWARD CELEBRATION & 2019 RECITAL VIEWING – SATURDAY, JUNE 20TH:  Join us via Zoom for an Awards ceremony that we normally would do at Dress Rehearsal and then stay with us for a video montage of our year together.  Details with time and Zoom meeting link will be sent out in an email closer to the date.

END OF THE YEAR RECITAL PERFORMANCE UPDATE – We are currently planning 2 end of the year recital performances, both in the studio – one with all numbers in which seniors are performing and one for all the other classes. Dances will be professionally recorded, and we will have a full end of year recital performance video that will be available after both shows have been performed.  Specific details outlining the recital performance day procedure will be sent out prior to the opening of the studio in July. 

Recital #1 - In-Studio, Wednesday, August 19th.  Performance will begin at 6:00 pm and this performance will include the following classes:

We are planning for classes in Recital #1 to resume on July 20th – August 15th and classes will take place during their regular class time to clean and finish numbers.  Class times may be adjusted to allow for cleaning in between classes and we will send an updated schedule to these classes in July.

Recital #2 - The rest of the classes will have an In Studio Performance after Recital #1 (date to be determined soon) in the same format. These class rehearsals will resume in late July/early August as close to their regular scheduled class times, allowing for time in-between classes to clean and sanitize.  Details will be sent out as soon as everything can be finalized.

SUMMER CLASSES – Beginning July 20th we will be offering a private lesson summer special - 30 minutes for $15. Your instructor will warm you up and work with you on technique or your dance routines. Times and instructors may be limited.  We may also be running small camps or classes later this summer. Please keep your eye out for future updates.

FALL REGISTRATION & SCHEDULE will be coming out in the near future. We will be sure to hold registration for current students before we open this to the public. At this point, we plan to begin our 2020/2021 season on Saturday, October 3rd (this date is subject to change).
